The B.E.A.R. Reading Center trains well qualified individuals to provide prescriptive reading intervention.

  • Each tutor must have a Bachelor’s degree in any profession, not limited to education.

  • They must be trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach by a certified trainer using an IMSLEC accredited curriculum.

Director  

Kim has a Master’s Degree in Education from Ball State University. She is a certified tutor and trainer at the initial and advanced levels of an Orton-Gillingham IMSLEC accredited training program. She is also a Certified Academic Language Therapist and an Instructor of Certified Academic Language Practitioner through ALTA, as well as a Certified Dyslexia Therapist through IDA. She also serves on the ALTA and IN-IDA board of directors. She has 45 years of teaching experience helping children and families address reading challenges.
